The Israeli Society of Surgical Oncology (ISSO) was founded in 1992, under the aegis of the Israel Surgical Association. ISSO was formed, by a group of Israeli surgeons, all members of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), to oversee and coordinate the advancement of surgical oncology in Israel as a specific field within General Surgery.

For the past 30 years, ISSO has been in the forefront of educating new generations of surgeons and ensuring that modern world class cancer surgery be available to all within Israel. ​

ISSO is proud to be a global partner with the SSO and the European Society of Surgical Oncology, (ESSO) and as a member of the Global Forum of Cancer Surgeons (GFCS).

These relationships have allowed ISSO to have a direct channel to the large global surgical oncology community, to increase international collaboration and facilitate surgical education for members of our society.

ISSO sponsors symposia and seminars on a variety of topics relevant to surgical oncology, as well as hosting a biennial international conference.
